"Gifts from the Home" by Anika Pretorius
As you'd expect, a lovely range of gifts to make. These are arranged as gifts from the kitchen, gifts from the garden, gifts to sew, cross stitch gifts, painted gifts and a section on gifts the whole family can make. This last section would be worth having handy on a dreary school holiday for slightly older children. Small children would probably find them too difficult to do alone but there are lots of gifts where a small child could make a contribution! This is a clean, good condition hardback book that still has its dustjacket. £4.50 plus £1.50 p+p in UK.

This lovely hard back book has a range of country-oriented crafts that would suit even the most confirmed city dweller. It covers simple wood work such as buttons and pegs, corn dolly weaving, wool spinning dyeing and weaving, flower crafts, jam and preserve making, simple cosmetics and herbal remedies, along with many other decorative crafts to give your home that country life feeling. The book is in good clean condition, although the front fly leaf has been removed. It is £5.00 with £2.30 post and packing in the UK
"Make it Yourself" edited by Mary Harding for Columbia House Publishing
This 1975 hardback book is described as volume 2 in the complete step-by-step library of needlework and crafts. It does assume some basic knowledge of knitting and sewing but is still suitable for a novice. The interesting projects include aran knitted sweaters and tops, two-colour knitted tops, multicolour socks, crochet tank tops and tablecover/bedspread, macrame bag, tapestry, canvas work embroidery, crewel embroidery, dressmaking for children and adults (unused full size patterns included), some soft toys, beadwork, patchwork baby quilt and some cushions. Most of these patterns now fall into the popular "retro" look, which just goes to show that if you wait long enough everything comes back into fashion! A good condition book with shelf wear on the outside, having lost its dust jacket, but super condition inside including the full size pattern sheets already mentioned. £5 plus £2.30 p+p in UK.
