All pattern leaflets now have free p+p worldwide.

Most lace patterns are not much more difficult than basic knitting.  Generally, the more rows the pattern repeats over, the more attention you have to give it.  Also, if there is shaping that needs to be done in pattern, this can be more challenging especially if there is no chart..  Therefore, I have mentioned how many rows the pattern goes over, whether there is a chart or not, and if the shaping happens during the patterning.

Midgley and Catton  572  Chunky ridge lace round or V-neck waistcoats

Described as sleeveless jackets in the leaflet, this lace design has almost no shapings so would be a good beginners lace project.  Knit in chunky on 6 and 6.5mm needles, I think these would grow quickly.  The pattern goes over 4 rows only, with the patterning being all in row 1 and the next rows being 2 - purl, 3 - knit, 4 - purl.  No problem there.  The sizes are 32 - 40 inch (81 - 102 cms).  The leflet is slightly damaged on the front and has quite a heavy crease across the middle, although the pattern instructions are unaffected.  Because of this, it is only £1.00

Sirdar 6245  All over fern lace pattern roll neck sweater

This sweater is shown in brushed chunky but any  chuncky yarn could be used.  It is quick to knit on 5.5 and 6.5mm needles.  The lace pattern goes over 12 rows and is only affected by the neck shaping at the front and in the sleeve increases.  Although I am not generally keen on chunky knits, I like this.  The sizes given are 30 - 40 inches (75 - 102 cms).  The leaflet is in good condition, but the 36 inch size has been circled throughout.  This does not affect the use of the pattern, so it is £2.00 and free p+p worldwide.

Patons 7553   Feather and chevron lace round neck sweater

Knitted in 4ply, this is one of my favourites.  The sizes given are 32 - 42 inch (81 - 107 cms).  The pattern is not affected by the shaping, except for the neck where it is mainly in the plain parts and should not cause any difficulty.  The pattern is given in panels so you knit a number of stitches, work the appropriate row of panel A, knit a few more stitches, knit panel B, and so on.   Since there are 8 rows in panel A, 16 rows in panel B, and 12 rows in panel C, you will have to keep a note of where you are with each panel until you have them firmly fixed in your memory. There is no chart.  Despite that, it is easier than it look.  The leaflet is in good condition, with a crease across the middle.  The punch holes have taken the edge of the print on one side, but the missing letters do not affect the pattern and have been written in pen in the margin.  For an interesting knit and a sweater you can wear all year round, give this one a go.  £2.00.

Hayfield 1922   Sweater with lacy bobble pattern sleeves and yoke

The pattern gives 7 choices of DK yarn and  I made this in normal smooth yarn. It looked great.  In fact, I think it looked better than the model shown in brushed DK.  Anyway, the sizes go from 30 - 42inch (76 - 107cm).  The pattern goes over a 6 row repeat so you need to be confident in reading a pattern (there is no chart given).  Otherwise, just the usual set-in sleeve sweater.  The leaflet is in pretty good condition, the punch holes do not touch the pattern at all.  £2.00 with free p+p.

Studley 1181  Feather lace sweater with assymetrical collar

I don't know if Studley snowflake yarn is still available.  It was a fairly thick yarn with cotton in it.  Anyway it is given as having the rib knit on 4.5mm needles and the main part done on 5.5mm needles to give a tension of 8 stitches to 5cms or 2inches in pattern.  The sizes are 34 - 40inch (86 - 102cm) but the actual garment measurements are given as 37.5 - 52.5inch (95 - 134cm) so it ends up pretty big.  The pattern goes over 10 rows so it is probably best tackled by an experienced knitter.  Apart from the 10 row pattern, the rest is just your standard sweater pattern.  The leaflet is in good condition with a crease across the middle as you can see.  £2.00.
